Tens of thousands of English teachers all over the world teaching through the medium of English, including to complete beginners. But you're Spanish teacher! Teach Spanish through Spanish! If you don't know how to, do a TEFL qualification and adapt the methodology to Spanish. You lose so much in your classes by speaking so much English.

That’s great. I’m IH trained too. I am astonished you use so much English in your Spanish classes as this isn’t in line with IH’s philosophy (and that of all TEFL training bodies). It would be great you could use your training and experience to teach Spanish through Spanish.

Hi Charles. Thanks for your comments. I am the other half of Speak Spanish. I take the stuff Cynthia writes and edit the English parts. The idea of this substack is to accompany people learning Spanish as an added "bonus" to their learning journey. I assume this is not the primary learning source for most people, but just another thing that helps them. This substack in no way shape or form should be a substitute for taking classes, speaking with people, etc. This hopefully compliments someone who is already taking Spanish classes, etc. So the idea of this is to use English in the written articles to explain some concepts that maybe get confusing if they are in the second language. I know that when I was learning Spanish, it was helpful for me to see an explination of some things in English, or have someone explain it to me in English. But both Cynthia and I do agree that it would be helpful as well to start including more Spanish in the written parts and the audios. Cheers!
